ActivEV Pulse Controller ID Guide

ActivEV uses two different controllers in their Pulse model. It is important to know which controller is in your vehicle, as each requires specific equipment that is NOT compatible with the other. You MUST use the correct cable and software for your controller. They are NOT universal, and you cannot mix and match!

The changeover occurred in late 2025/early 2026. Therefore, it is possible to have a late 2025 model with the newer FJ controller or an early 2026 model with the older JHL controller.

Below are the steps to determine which controller is in your ICON vehicle:

1. Locate the controller

The controller on the Pulse is accessed from the passenger side of the vehicle and is mounted in the battery bay. There is a small plastic cover that can be removed for better access, but it is not required. You can also see around it by looking in at an angle

2. Access the controller

If you choose to remove the cover, it is held on with three screws. One of the screws is under the foam weatherstripping near the tow/run switch. You can locate it by pressing down on the foam with your finger until you feel the screw head.

3. Physical Observation Of The Controller

Once you've located the controller its not too hard to get eyes on it. (JHL Controller Shown Here)

4. Identify The Controller - JHL Controller

Once you've located the controller its not too hard to get eyes on it. (JHL Controller Shown Here)

5. Identify The Controller - FJ Controller

Once you've located the controller its not too hard to get eyes on it. (FJ Controller Shown Here)

Now that we have identified the controller in your vehicle we can take a look at the required equipment to connect to the vehicle and make your desired changes.
